Being announced most improved archer 1991 by South Molton community college had set the bar exceptionally high; would this monumental benchmark of eminence overshadow such dazzling potential? No. Undaunted, William navigated a course to greatness, stopping on the way at riches, notoriety, and sordid debauchery. But the winds that once filled his sails would inevitably change direction; the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long, or less in heavy wind, and William stowed his bow and quiver in their Ascham for the last time in 1992. The world of archery's loss would be graphic airbrushing's gain.Tragedy is always lurking: ‘Don’t pick it or your brains will fall out’, and alas his mother was proven correct. After years of therapy, William regained enough sensory integration to use his two handed chopsticks. After eating his way through the entire ‘Wok this Way’ menu and four dress sizes, he applied his newly found gripping abilities to the nobel art of drumming.

Well where do I start? I got into drumming and samba music by accident; it was back in 2005, I was having a mid life crisis and needed something, so my best mate and fellow band member, Lisa Morris, dragged me kicking and screaming to her drumming group, a community band in Bideford, Devon. OK, I may have had some very awkward stepping movements, of which I’m still reminded to this day, but I was hooked! I started on surdo, was part of the group and loved every minute. I was then dragged off to France and enjoyed playing at festivals; this was probably the highlight, and my mid life crisis was over (some may differ with that!). I have played on many different drums, but my love changed to the shaker and shekere. During the summer of 2010, I joined Vamanos and this is where I found true love for the shekere. The reason I love to perform and dance (I seem to have found some rhythm in my feet after all these years) with the shekere is that you can get right into the crowd and feed off each other to give a great performance. Where am I now? Loving Vamanos and playing the odd drum, but the shekere and shakers are truly glued to my hands.

Bloody nora..... I’m rubbish at things like this..… Well, here goes.....I caught the Samba bug when I saw Samba Sol play in my hometown way back in 2000, which is when I decided I had to join them. I later went on to join Vamanos when the band formed in 2006.I have also just recently joined a new funk band & enjoy listening to many different genres of music.

Ziggi started kit drumming at the age of 11, and joined a community samba band a year later. She joined Vamanos in 2008. Her drum heroes include Stewart Copeland, Carter Beauford, Andy Stotchansky, and Zac Farro. Ziggi bares an uncanny resemblence to Pepe the Prawn.
